Who would start a religion? We would, any of us, by accident, for the best of reasons. But once started such things are hard to stop. Attempting to do so, admitting that you had lied, facing the rage that might come, could prove dangerous if not suicidal. “Life Of Brian” was not far off, nor that scene on the steps in “The Man Who Invented Lying”. Great video bring with hitvideo.org

    Well it’s simple.

I am the master, oh I bleed and die, I lost my power.

I am the master, I have power given by this statue, oh it breaks, i lost my power.

I am not the master, but I speak speak for him, he is invisible and can never be tested.

Now I can stay in power.

Tell them “There will be no suffering after death”.
As far as we know, it’s true. But untestable.

I think it’s kind of like how you have a strange desire to poke fun at gullible people, and then when they believe you, you almost want to keep them in the dark and perhaps stretch the original sarcastic comment into a small lie. Except on a bigger scale with lots of supporting magic tricks.

I’m not saying I completely agree with you as I am Christian, but I do think that everyone should think about this.

I would add one more thing- disagreement, though a ot of disagreements come from religion and the other things you mentioned they are not necesarily always connected

@philhellenes and i can tell you from experience being from one of the most poor and primative countries on the face of the earth, the way they deal with death is totally different from the way we do in industrialized society, since there is not much modern medical treatment death is from illness or injury is fairly common and whether it be loved one or not they understand its inevitable, while most people try to avoid that fact

@philhellenes why is this about changing my mind, i prefer to look at things from all angles whether it be secular or religious or even plain hatefull, the conclusion i come to after that does not and should not affect anyone around me,

Islam was ONLY mentioned to show how religions can evolve from one another. Other than that, this video has nothing to do with Islam. As for cavemen not caring about dying themselves or being as saddened as we are by the death of a loved one, I couldn’t disagree more, but I know I can’t change your mind.

@philhellenes I respect your opinion however it does not coincide with the documented history of islam or any of the 3 major abrahamic religions for that matter. and who can say for sure what the psychology was like 30-100,000 years ago i mean come on those were primative times and i doubt people living during the ice age were too worried about life after death

This video is about thoughts that may have happened 30-40 or even more than 100,000 years before Islam. The scene may have been replayed thousands of times in thousands of different tribes. Most viewers understood this. It’s revealing that you did not.

This is a fail on so Many levels, in the begining he mentioned Islam and obviousley from what was coming out of his mouth he has NEVER read anything about the history of Islam he’s speaking out of pure ignorance, in pre-Islamic Arabia the people were ruthless, men used to bury their daughters alive and tribal warfare was the only way to settle things. And Islam came down to “comfort” them WTF? If that’s the case then why is Islam viewed as so violent today

I have spent some time thinking about why there are wars:

    1) Religion (and other dogma)
    2) To gain wealth
    3) Overpopulation (lack of resources)

Recently the cost of war has gotten so high that item 2 is no longer a reason. Iraq tried to take over Kuwait but that was too expensive. I think everyone knows that, in this day and age, war will cost more than what you get.

This leaves items 1 & 3. The problem is that too many people do not know that we have a religion / overpopulation problem.

Look up the definition of → ‘level headed’
There should be a picture of, Phil.

It’s a divisive game these theists play (backed by their spurious Gospels)…

But we’re Science, therefore make the rules. How can we lose?

    Nice upload, btw!

You put so well the thoughts that flow through the minds of so many of us that (in my case ) have a hard time capturing the point so precisely and with the same force it had as a thought. Well done.

Excellent train of thought, it rings true.
Our intelligence, self-awareness and capacity for abstract thought is a two edged sword. We seem to need to find answers and some people are so desperate they will believe in anything, such as the ridiculous lizards of David Iche and the golden plates in Joseph Smith’s hat.
If Ron Hubbard knew what he had started, would he tell everyone it was all made up? I’ll bet even if he did, people would still believe in scientology.
