it doesn’t matter how many cats and dogs we kill and eat, or if were vegans or not. dolphins have high levels of mercury and there is no point in killing dolphins to be eaten when were just going to kill ourselves in the end. dolphins can and have saved lives and were just going to stand back and not save theirs? the cove is a great movie and i hope this comes to and end really soon!

Only vegans have the right to criticize the Japanese. While this film was made thousands of farm animals were killed after living not free, like most of these dolphins, but in the most horrible circumstances. And animal farming is the cause of 51% of global climate change according to a recent UN report. Humans need to clean up our act, we’re killing not only animals, but the planet and ourselves…

Thank you for your comment. I think that is the general feeling shared by many Japanese. Even though most Japanese don’t eat dolphins, there are a few fishing villages where their tradition goes on. Many people are sad or even get insulted when this film is promoted like this by celebrities of a friendly country.

Lets be clear about one thing here. No one is trying to bash the Japanese on this issue, Rick O’Berry is simply dealing with an animal welfare issue in Japan and no one was hearing him until it gets international attention.
You are right about all those poor cats and dogs in China and Korea, but you don’t know how the young generations take this issue. I can tell you as a Chinese and as a vegetarian, that I speak against such practice, and I see it as part of dark ages practice.

Dogs and cats are more friendly animals and domesticated for human yet many of them are killed everyday for nothing all over the world. In Korea and China, there is a culture of eating dogs.
Some locals in Scandinavian also have a culture of eating dolphins and whales.
Why the cove went to small Japanese village?
Apparently, they are bigoted against the small village of people in Japan without telling their side of story to make a buck. That’s what they call documentary film. Weh

@itachiana Look Im a tree hugger myself but you sound like a moron. Animals will be at peace? What about the gazelle’s that get brutally eaten by lion’s, or the hawks that eat other birds alive ( ive seen this in person ). The world is a cruel and fucked up place. I really do hope this documentary stops the killing of dolphin’s though they are some of the most intelligent and brilliant creatures on earth.

I love dolphins but you are right.
There are many local cultures like this all over the world. They haven’t done this only for money but survive. The cove is scaring the local people’s culture and life by forcefully filming this small fish village. Shall we stop them just because it’s different from ours? I guess if you became a big hollywood star, you don’t really care a person who has no name working for his family in a small village for example. They should have known better…
